Review | Arami Ivory Butter in Mint

For the longest time in my life I wondered how some ladies had skin that simply glowed. Their skin looked plump, healthy and 'moisturised'. I don't just mean really good skin, but there was a shine to it which didn't come from a kind of shimmer product.

That was until I discovered body butters.

Review | Matte All Day With Zaron Oil Block Mattifier

I never use a primer or mattifier of any kind because I've weird combination skin that helps me not sweat or my face become oily. However, I do get a sheen on my face every now and then which means at the end of the day, I have to dab my face. But.....it does seem I've found a product that has completely eliminated the need to dab.

#MyStyle | Vintage Pleats and Cane

Sundays are quite literally my favourite day of the week. This is when I really get to be myself. During the week, I can only wear a limited amount of vintage and of course, I'm restricted by colours, how I can style my hair and accessories too.

But not on Sunday.
Although, I don't pull out the vixen with bright or dark lip colours, every other thing is pretty much perfect. Add a gingham cane bag to it and I'm in style heaven.

My family members find me weird and my Mum says if anything were ever to happen to me there'd be no one to give my clothes to as my style is just that - my style.

I recently got a couple of seperates from vintage style lovers/brands and I was super excited to try them out. I got a pure silk pleated skirt (@soulorangevintage) and a double chiffon top (@thevintagetrybe). I matched this vintage hat (@chezjumellevintage) I've had for years and the gingham cane bag I recently got from @shopkisara and these made a perfect Sunday outfit.

Paired with a soft, clean makeup look and my hair pulled back, I got so many compliments and everyone said I positively glowed all through the service.
May I just add - this gingham cane bag from Kisara is now my go-to Church bag and I'm looking forward to owning another one.

Review | Some Eye Colour with Taos

This post has been in my edit folder for way longer than it should. After months of longing to wear more colour on my face and not having the time to, I figured I should post this to console myself a bit, lol.

In February, during the #28daysofred series, I was gifted this palette from Taos Cosmetics. I didn't have a chance to use it during the series so I used it after. Multi-use products are a favourite of mine and I figured instead of using the palette just as an eyeshadow, I'd use it all over my face and see how it would fare as a contour, highlighter and blush alongside being an eyeshadow of course.

But let's talk about my first impression of the product and the package.
It is WHITE!!!
Lol, the last thing I think to hold when I'm doing my makeup. I mean, no matter how careful I am or the fact that I use makeup brushes, some makeup still gets on my fingers when doing my makeup *le sigh*. That aside, the shadows are super pigmented. I mean, my arm is super hairy but even with that, the swatches showed up with just one tap on my arm. I think the fact they are so pigmented made the idea of using them for multiple things so easy to execute.
I needed to create an office worthy look so I used Anisa & Surayya on my eyes, Anisa to contour and Iyom to highlight.
The palette is a nice mix of shimmer and matte eyeshadows with one silver glitter eyeshadow which I'm just dying to try out soon enough. This is a very versatile palette which anyone - beginner to professional - can use and also for any kind of occasion too as it works for simple, elegant looks to bold, colourful looks.

Photography | Lolade's Pink Story

I went to visit dear darling Lolade (@laulerday) when she had just hurt her leg a couple of years ago. To cheer her up I went along with a makeup bag and my camera.

The plan was to do her makeup and take pictures of her for her which she could do whatever she wanted with. It's pretty clear I had just delved into photography about that time and wasn't experienced at all but it came alright even if I do say so myself.

I'm going to admit I can't remember how I edited the pictures because see how soft her skin is in the pictures. The softness makes it realer than ever and almost like no editing was done at all.

Is it just me or do I almost always end up shooting pink makeup somehow when I've a planned shoot with someone?
I think I know why I almost always use pink though - I'm making up for the lost years when I didn't like the colour.

What do you think about my pink makeovers?

My First Water Fasting Experience.

I've tried about 5 times now to do a water fast but I only get through the 1st day successfully. Why? We have Monday progress meetings at work so by the time the day settles, it's like 1 or 2pm so the day is gone.

This is my 5th attempt and I'm creating the draft of this post a couple hours to the end of the first day and after reading this post  because I would like to experience all the awesome benefits of water fasting I've read about from various testimonials.

I'm over-weight, have back ache most days, knees hurt sometimes and I've been having bloating bouts more often thus needing to default to Nomoretic every single time. That's enough reason to go on a water fast right? There's also the added benefit of awesome skin which water gives too so there's a possibility all my skin brohaha courtesy of working-out will be sorted out by this.

So, I'm going on an extended one week break from my 6-days a week work out routine to try out water fasting to be back to working otu next week. I've no particular number of days in mind but will be in awe of myself if I can do 5 days. I hear the body starts feeling hungry when the fast end is near so I don't want to start feeling unnecessarily hungry or be overcome by a powerful craving before I'm really and truly ready.

Day 1

The second day of a period so I wasn't quite sure if it was safe to fast when I was losing blood. Well, someone said I should cave in the moment I feel sick so that's what I'm going with.

In the meantime, apart from slight somewhat burns in my stomach which may or may not be ulcer pains, I'm great. My urine is already clean water clear at 4.49pm which typically means too much water or over-hydration. What the heck, I was happy with it. I've a personal pet peeve about coloured urine and so I'm happy when mine is clear.

It's 4.57pm, I'm typing this and I'm thinking I might be feeling the onset of a headache but I can't be sure.

Alas, the headache faded away. I actually had enough strength to not only do a product shoot way into the midnight but I was so wide awake, I had the presence of mind to do some packing up as my parents needed the guest room ie. my make-shift studio.

I calculated and in total, I drank 4.5l of water.

Day 2

I usually eat in the office by 11am at the latest so I was wondering if ghrelin was going to kick in like all the other times and drive me to eat before noon. If I make it till noon, then I know it's for real. Asides my fear of the hunger urge, I'm doing great - I feel great, I looked great too (not working out in over a week so my skin is looking great again ie. acne going, spots fading, complexion brightening. Although I'd like to think the water is to thank, I'd say its too soon, lol).

Just had my first 75cl of water and thinking maybe today I'll do some Peppermint tea. Alas, no peppermint tea happened.

Thankfully, I had a 4 hour meeting where I realised that for some reason I wasn't hungry and water didn't taste so great anymore so I stopped drinking bringing my total litre count to 2.25l.

Spent the rest of the day feeling miserable as everyone at work was eating, I was having a headache and felt a bit light-headed. I just want to start feeling the high when my body starts feeding off ketones na, *loud sob*

Went to bed early as I was feeling drowsy, had a headache and was feeling like I was sick. Alas, it was just my body temperature dropping.

Day 3

Woke up this morning with no backache and after a couple of minutes realised that my knees had stopped hurting as well and bloating was a thing of the past. Craving water though so I'm not sure what that is all about. The downside is that I feel really weak and light-headed so I'm breaking my fast today.

________________________________

I'm so proud of myself for even getting this far. I was alert, sharp and very light on my feet. Being my first time I think I did good. Now I know what to expect on the second and third days of a water fast the next time I do it in about 2 weeks or next month. I look forward to getting to 5 days.

The next time though, I'll pay attention to weight loss and my temperature. Did I mention brushing my teeth felt like a waste of time and toothpaste the entire time? lol

Have you done a water fast before? Know anyone who has? I'd love to hear what the experience was like.

#WentShopping | Ajali Body Scrubs & Simple Micellar Water + Eye Makeup Remover

I'm almost in my late thirties and still learning the art of proper skincare. This is something I neglected when I was much younger and had rashes like acne on my face....that was a terrible phase.

6 Things To Note When Posing People For A Photography Shoot

I've been wanting to write this post for the longest time especially since I started photographing people and myself. These pictures are totally unedited and I did that on purpose - I'm trying to pass a message across really - edited or unedited, I believe the message will be received, grin.
