Zaron Cosmetics at 15 Years. From 1 to Many.

12.9.26 Lagos, Nigeria

My post titled 'The Launch of Zaron' dates back September 16, 2011 so I'll go with that.

I remember the launch of Zaron Cosmetics almost like it was yesterday. It was a runway show and Zaron was makeup and hair back then. I started blogging to promote Nigerian makeup brands and NIgerian makeup talent so it was a given that I was going to visit the Zaron store and purchase their makeup soon after the launch.

That was how my relationship with Zaron began and 159 blog posts, reviews and brand mentions later, it is now 15 years.

Yesterday was a grand celebration of Zaron Cosmetics at 15 years which was a dual celebration as it was also the birthday of the beautiful owner Oke Maduewesi. Not sure why I feel like I'm a member of the Zaron family, lol, but I was as nostalgic as they were.

I remembered sitting in the Zaron store on Alhaji Kanike and hearing how Oke wanted to be sure to give back to Widows (unfortunately, I was never able to be part of those because of work), but I was always saw how much it had taken from them emotionally after every event. I was there for product launches, product trials, when Rita Dominic was the first ambassador (and an absolutely awesome ambassador at that. I recall watching an interview where they asked her what makeup she was wearing and she said "Zaron of course".)

Let's just say my love for the brand runs deeper than just makeup and flows onto the owner and her ever capable CEO, MaryJane Ohobu. It is beautiful to see how far the brand has come - from dreams and ideas at the single Alhaji Kanike store  to now being global (even reaching as far as China).

I know you are here to see pictures and videos and the huge gift box we got from the event so I won't disappoint. I'll also do a detailed review of a couple new Zaron products which I've been using for a while now so be sure to visit again.

Here's my 11.09.2026 story

I got there early.
Remember not to go for any Nigerian event early because no matter how much the event owner wants to start early, vendors will always be vendors, lol.
Thankfully, there was a holding area and I got to sit and get nice mocktails.

The holding area was the hub of the night. I was there for over 2 hours and didn't even notice because there was so much happening apart from the drinks.
There were games where I won some Zaron makeup products & tools, there were free phone cases (I use a Samsung so it was a tad difficult getting one for my phone but I was super excited when I got one + there were free charms too. I've never used a charm on my phone so it was new and verrryy nice)

The celebrant herself looked gorgeous. Oke was everywhere in the holding area - dancing, taking pictures and ensuring all the guests were comfortable and enjoying themselves.
Surprisingly, we really were enjoying ourselves in the holding area.

I think this is one of the clearest and best depictions of the success of all my exercise in the past almost 2 years. I look sooooo lean ☺

Yetty is a friend of Zaron too and so naturally we took a picture...especially when we could steal MJ for a bit amidst all the preparations and duties she had going on at the event.

See who I bumped into - Omontese BeautyCook
Have you read my launch of Zaron post from 15 years ago? You'll see that she literally was the one who tied myself and Zaron at the hip. I haven't seen her in ages but when I saw her, it immediately came flooding back to me the night of the launch event when she urged me to make sure I come by the Zaron store to check out their products and review them on my blog.
Moriam Musa was one of the first ever publicists I ever came across when I was actively blogging back in the day. Now, she enjoyably acts as my Manager while I return to active blogging, writing, reviewing and enjoying beauty products.

Does anyone remember Liz from the days of Liz Yemoja and how she had a line of false lashes? I do.
She'll probably kill me and not speak to me again for mentioning this here but celebrating Zaron at 15 brought back so many old memories and it is only right to mention them here abi?
p.s. she is now 'Elizabeth Osho' so be warned.

After all the excitement of the holding area, the main event area was beautiful to behold. From the drapings on the ceiling to the chinese lantern type lights.
Somehow, I wasn't surprised to see a runway. The launch of Zaron in Nigeria was a mini-fashion show remember? This is the second biggest and most significant event in the life of the brand so I wasn't surprised there'd be a runway.

I met Ijeoma and she is a lovely person. She made the event very enjoyable, we exchanged numbers and danced together. She is a realtor and a business development executive with a beautiful daughter.

If you know me and you don't know my favourite dessert is 'hot & cold dessert', then you don't really know me. hot & cold means something hot paired with something cold e.g. brownie & ice cream.

You already Aunty Bimpe from waaaaaay back. She was one of the very first editional makeup artists in Nigeria ever.

with Tito Ibeleme. If you don't know T.A’la mode, then I really can't help you.

It was an absolute pleasure to see Ngozi of Jaga Beauty. I have her body wash and shea butter at home and can't wait to try them out.

I was unable to stay till the end of the party but I was able to stay for Oke's speech of gratitude. I did take something away - thankful. One thing she mentioned in her speech is how her word of the literal year has been THANKFUL. If you know anything about Oke's story, you will appreciate this even more than before.

I'm thankful not just for Oke's life, or MJ for both welcoming me and making me a literal part of the Zaron family and being part of any and every event or project I need support with, I'm thankful to GOD for being able to be a person of value to them.

I know we were all waiting for the gift box I got to take home, but best believe it was a beautiful box, lol. Also, I absolutely can't wait to try out the new Zaron haircare line that was unveiled yesterday. I'm already looking forward to when it is available instore.

p.s. did I mention that LOUD performed at the event and I'm sworn to having them perform at any party I throw?

Once again hearty congratulations Oke, MJ and team Zaron!
Here's to 15 more years 🍷
