'Return of Jenifa' Lagos Premiere

12 Oct 2011

I was browsing the net and checking out Bellanaija (being a while) and i saw this post on the 7th October premiere of 'Return of Jenifa' and the first thing that came to my mind after looking at all the pictures is WHY THE HELL DO NIGERIAN CELEBRITIES NOT HIRE PROFESSIONAL MUAS TO DO THEIR MAKEUP?

I mean, there is a reason why Jlo hires Scott Barnes; Kim K - Mario Dedivanovic/Stephen Moleski; Iman, Queen Latifah - Sam Fine and all the numerous hoardes of celebrities and their celebrity MUAs. It is because they need to look absolutely glam when they appear on the red carpet.

But no, our Naija divas sit at their dressing tables and do whatever they like and appear on the red carpet. (Save us o Lord and bring their senses to our aid so we MUAs can have some profitable work to do, Amen)

Nwayz, here are the pictures. All culled from Bellanaija

Funke Akindele.
I dont like this look. Her hair should have been packed up in a loose bun or something of the sort and her makeup toned down. There is too much pink going on here.
The pink makeup shade, her skin tone and d dress look really good here

Kate Henshaw-Nuttal
Rita Dominic
I must admit that her red lipstick looks good and remember you can never go wrong with  an LBD.
Nikki Laoye
What part of taking care of any part of your body that will be exposed is said in french?
I like her pose but something isnt working for me.
Ibiere Agwu
She looks ok and her outfit and shoes are so on point. Would a pro MUA have used
that e/s colour and lip colour?
She looks good most times. She try.
Omono Oboli
Oh no, her legs!
Oge Okoye
Can someone please give her a complimentary makeover? And what are those earrings she has on?
Toke Makinwa
She looks good.
Adora Ukoh
Her face looks good and nothing else
Go Kaffy
She ok
Eunice Efole
Her makeup looks good and fits her all black ensemble.
Is anyone else drooling over the necklace?
Oh, the necklace just went and spoilt everything.
Chioma Chukwuka
I love her look - the neutral dress, red shoes, neutral clutch to match and neutral makeup.
Yvonne Ekwere
She indeed looks like a Vixen in this black and red  outfit with red lip sand smokey eyes to compliment.
Ibinabo Fiberesima
Its been a while since i saw her on the red carpet.
She looks pale. A lil complementary colour on her face would have really helped.
Eniola Badmus
First of all, her knees are black. Second, her plain face (or as im sure she would like to call it) neutral makeup shows us the horribleness of the outfit. urgghh!
Lilian Unachukwu
I love you girlfriend but if i was a close friend of yours, id never have let you out of the house in this.

Halima Abubakar
Who the hell did this? Are we looking at the dress (that doesnt fit her body shape) or the lipstick (that is out of place in the whole ensemble)

Tara Fela-Durotoye
I went to HOT makeup school for 2 weeks 2 years ago and that doesnt mean i cant say this doesnt look good at all. The makeup makes her look washed out.

Kate Henshaw Nuttal and Eunice Efole
Mercy Aigbe.
Guys, i tried but 'whats with the short dress and then long spindly looking hair down over her shoulders?' In my opinion, even the makeup doesnt work for the look.
Rita Dominic and Kate Henshaw Nuttal (I know she loves full brows and stuff, but...)
I cant believe that our Nollywood diva on the right looks like this at a movie premiere. She looks terrible.
this looks good but her orange lips, plain orange dress and tan sandals are  thumbs up.

  1. Nigerian celebs under-rate the power of having a complete team of hair, makeup, wardrobe and accessories. Just a few of them are exceptions though. Its a pity. I would rather avoid the red carpet like a plague, if am not completely on point. *seriously* and I would love to throw some colour on tara! enough of the subtle makeup already.

  2. whoever you are, i just want to give u a hug. You are so damn right. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.
